1. What is the SkinFirmor RF suitable for?
The BABOR TECH SkinFirmor RF is suitable for the professional local treatment of wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and forehead.
2. How does the SkinFirmor RF technology work?
The SkinFirmor RF works with a monopolar radio frequency of 4 MHz and is therefore ideal for local application on the face.
Radiofrequency has its origins in medicine and is considered a stimulant for cell renewal and collagen synthesis.
The energy of the radiofrequency is channeled into the depths of the skin with a special electrode, thereby reaching the dermis and causing the water molecules in the tissue to vibrate.
These vibrations heat the treated tissue to a maximum of 41°C in a controlled manner when used correctly. As is generally known from radiofrequency treatments, this mild heat development, which is perceived as pleasant, is sufficient to promote the skin's own regeneration mechanisms and the formation of new collagen and elastin.
In addition, microcirculation and lymphatic drainage are increased so that the tissue is optimally supplied with nutrients and oxygen and deposits/protein waste can be removed.
When used correctly, skin-damaging burns or denaturation of proteins are avoided.
At the same time, the moderate tissue heating causes collagen fibers in the connective tissue to contract, making the skin in the treated area appear firmer and smoother.
Professionally applied, SkinFirmor RF achieves visible results after just one application and gives the eye, mouth and forehead area a fresher, more youthful look.
Treatment with the SkinFirmor RF in the area around the eyes, forehead and mouth is suitable for all skin types, especially for the following objectives:
- Optical reduction of lines and wrinkles
- Support for tissue strength
- Optical reduction of bags under the eyes and dark circles around the eyes
- Relaxation and refreshment for stressed, strained eyes caused by stress, screen work, fatigue, air conditioning, draughts, intense facial expressions
As with any cosmetic treatment, only healthy people with healthy skin may be treated with SkinFirmor RF by appropriately trained beauticians.
In certain cases, use is contraindicated locally, generally or until normal health has been restored. The following list shows the most common contraindications.
If in doubt, you should always consult the specialist treating you.
Localized contraindications:
Skin areas with
- Skin damage (e.g. open wounds, localized inflammation)
- Visible skin changes (e.g. warts)
- Moles and birthmarks
must be generously avoided during use.
Treatment with SkinFirmor RF is generally contraindicated in the following cases:
- Blood clotting disorders
- Heart diseases
- Vascular diseases, e.g. thrombosis
- Severe circulatory disorders
- Diabetes
- Cancers, malignant tumors
- Diseases of the nervous system, such as Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, facial paralysis
- Autoimmune diseases
- Rosacea
- Pacemaker
- Implanted insulin pump
- Metal implants in the area to be treated
- For use in the eye area: Glaucoma (glaucoma)
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Under the influence of alcohol or drugs
In the following cases, treatment with SkinFirmor RF is contraindicated until normal health has been restored:
- Acute fever, infectious diseases
- Acute herpes in the area to be treated
- Acute conjunctivitis, other inflammations in the eye or mouth area
- Acute intake of antibiotics
The following cases are temporary contraindications:
For treatment of the eye:
- Cataract surgery (insertion of artificial lens): at least 8 weeks break
- Lasik (for the treatment of defective vision): at least 8 weeks break
- Glaucoma or retinal surgery: at least 3 months break
For treatment in general:
- after chemical peelings, peeling treatments
- After a fruit acid peeling treatment at the beautician: at least 2 weeks break
- after TCA peeling / phenol peeling: at least 6 - 8 weeks break
- after ablative laser treatments at the dermatologist: at least 6 - 8 weeks break
- after cosmetic surgery & injections in the last 6 months: Consultation with the specialist
In general, allergic reactions to the cosmetic products used may occur when using SkinFirmor RF.
1. Intensity
Regulates the intensity / strength with which the radio frequency is applied to the skin and can be set manually in the range 1 - 10.
Remember: the higher the intensity, the faster the tissue heats up!

The sensation of the RF application and the skin reactions can vary greatly from person to person. For the ideal setting, obtain feedback from the client at the start of the treatment and each time you change the treatment area. The radiofrequency should always be felt with
a pleasant warming sensation; then the intensity is optimal.
Keep the handpiece in contact with your skin when adjusting the intensity up or down.
Consistently monitor the reddening of the skin during the entire application. If very intense reddening of the skin occurs, reduce
the intensity.
2. Application duration & speed of handpiece guidance
The duration and speed of application also have a considerable influence on the tissue heating achieved and therefore on the intensity of the treatment.
Note: The longer and the slower a certain area is treated, the more intensive and even the tissue heating!
The success of treatment with the SkinFirmor RF depends not only on the selected intensity but also very much on the optimum application time and speed of handpiece guidance.
Preset programs with precisely illustrated step-by-step application sketches for each skin area ensure the optimum intensity and duration of the radiofrequency application. As a rule, skin areas of a maximum of 3 cm² are treated with fixed application times in order to achieve targeted and even tissue heating. All values were determined in extensive test applications

Once the application time for a specific skin area has been reached, a short signal tone is emitted. At the same time, the next treatment area is automatically shown on the display and the application time for this area starts again. This makes it easier to use the device precisely and safely. Once the selected program has finished, the application ends automatically.
Note: Please note that the intensity is automatically reset to the preset value each time the skin area is changed. If necessary, the intensity per skin area must be readjusted again and again to determine the individual ideal value. Bear in mind that the sensation can vary greatly even from the right to the left side of the face.
7. What must be observed before using SkinFirmor RF?
Contact lenses should be removed before radiofrequency applications. As there may be interference with hearing aids, please also have your hearing aids switched off.
8. How does the skin react to an application with the SkinFirmor RF?
The skin reacts to the treatment with slight to intense redness, possibly also with a slight burning sensation, tingling and feelings of tightness. Swelling may also occur in rare cases. These reactions usually disappear after 1-2 days.
Visible vessels may initially appear intensified after the treatment; however, this usually disappears after 1-2 hours.
9. What must be observed after using SkinFirmor RF?
Optimum treatment success is achieved if the client avoids the following on the day of treatment and on the following days until the redness/reactions have completely subsided:
- Heavy sweating (sauna visits)
- Solar radiation / Solarium
- Hair removal in the treated areas
- Swimming pool visits (chlorinated water / seawater)
Once the redness/reactions have subsided, all activities can be resumed as usual.
During a treatment course with SkinFirmor RF, we recommend using sun protection with a very high sun protection factor from the DOCTOR BABOR SOLAR DEFENSE range throughout the day. The best way to protect your eyes is to wear sunglasses with UV protection.
Even after the end of the treatment, sun protection should be worn during the day for a further 2 - 3 weeks.
10. spa treatments with the SkinFirmor RF
To achieve maximum treatment results, we recommend a course of 6 treatments over 3 weeks, accompanied by consistent home care
Position the client's head for the treatment of each facial area so that you can work optimally.
Always move the handpiece very slowly and without pressure over the skin - in a straight line or in very small circles, depending on the instructions.
Make sure to maintain constant skin contact and to put the handpiece down as little as possible.
Always treat the right eye/mouth area first, then the left, as shown in the application sketches on the display after selecting the program.
If possible, work on the right side with the right hand and the left side with the left hand.
To ensure that the RF application is as pleasant and relaxing as possible, please note the course of the blue and red lines / circles on each application sketch; as a rule, blue lines indicate the "outward path" of the handpiece into an RF-sensitive application zone, red circles - executed very slowly - indicate the handpiece guidance for targeted tissue warming.
What must be observed before fitting the handpiece?
1. Put on disposable gloves.
2. Place the return electrode under the client's upper back on the couch away from the heart.
3. Select the program.
4. Remove the Radio Frequency Glycerin Gel from the jar using a spatula and apply it evenly to the areas of skin to be treated using a narrow brush (e.g. eyeshadow brush).
5. Start the program. Initially maintain the preset intensity until the customer reports a pleasantly noticeable warmth. You can then readjust the intensity if necessary (-/+).
