The BABOR Laboratories have been inspired by the latest findings from research on autophagy. |
Autophagy refers to the mechanism of so-called “cell recycling,” by which cells rid themselves of unnecessary cellular waste that is produced during cell division and other cell functions. Degradation products are identified as waste and excreted, while other components are used for energy generation or recycled.
However, this self-cleaning activity of the cells decreases as a result of aging and due to external stress factors; waste products are no longer broken down efficiently and, as a result, the cells age more quickly.
This is exactly where the Alpine Rose extract comes in. It is one of the most typical alpine plants in Switzerland, which grows at high altitudes. To adapt to this environment, it developed impressive strategies to protect itself from dehydration and the attack of free radicals and pathogens.

Characteristics of dry skin |
Main concerns of dry skin:
It is usually unable to generate sufficient lipids, which act as a protective film on the skin surface. Tiny gaps can form between the skin cells through which moisture can escape. The skin is then no longer able to store sufficient moisture, causing it to lack lipids and moisture.
As a result, dry skin often appears dull, rough, and flaky and feels less elastic and supple. Unpleasant feelings of tension quickly occur, especially after cleansing.
